Research
Research topics at the Social Inequality Lab.
Trust and Inequality
Write one paragraph here that describes the projects under this topic. For example: we study how group membership and socioeconomic status shape trust and reciprocity between advantaged and disadvantaged individuals, including how shared social identity can promote cooperation in unequal societies.
Cooperation and Partner Choice
We examine how inequality in resources and productivity affects with whom people choose to cooperate, how much they cooperate, and how punishment interacts with partner choice. This work is conducted with the University of Groningen and the University of Zurich.
Financial stress and Decision-Making
We study how income volatility and limited retirement provision shape psychological well-being and financial decisions, among freelancers, self-employed workers and employees in underdeveloped pension systems.
Social Capital and Mobility
We test whether social capital prevents downward mobility and whether third parties take it into account when evaluating a person's achievements.
